From Resilience to Recognition: My Journey to Becoming a Number One Best Selling Author

As many of you know, business is not for the faint of heart. It’s a constant

filled with setbacks, challenges, and, most importantly, the need for resilience. I’ve learned that resilience isn’t just about overcoming external obstacles – it’s about overcoming the doubts and fears we often impose on ourselves. This lesson has been at the core of my journey, and it’s what led me to share my story in the book "Powerhouse".

A few months ago, I was approached by Liz from Flamingo Business, who invited me to contribute to this amazing project. Honestly, I was nervous at first. English was never my strong point, even at school, and I kept thinking, “Who am I to share my story?” But there was something inside me that knew I had a story worth telling.

I was bullied at school, and I always felt like I didn’t fit in. I wasn’t the most confident person, and to go from that place to building a business took a level of resilience I didn’t even know I had. I wanted to share my story to inspire others who might be feeling the same way – that they too can rise above their challenges and create something of their own.

Writing the chapter wasn’t easy. In fact, there were moments when I almost gave up. The mindset monkeys were loud and persistent – “Who would want to hear my story?” But despite these doubts, I’m stubborn (even with myself!) and I’d committed to it. I was going to finish this chapter, even if it meant reliving some difficult parts of my life, especially those moments of being bullied. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it.

And the reward? Becoming a Number One Best Selling Author. Not just in one category, but in eight categories on Amazon! This includes Business Development & Entrepreneurship, Career Guides, and Marketing & Sales – among others. To be ranked alongside the likes of my idol, Steven Bartlett – the king of social media and marketing – felt surreal. It wasn’t just a milestone for my business, but a massive personal achievement. I’ve proven to myself that I can do it, that my story matters, and that I am capable of much more than I ever thought.

Launch day was a very emotional day for all of us involved in the book. To see our work come to life and to know that our stories were impacting others was indescribable. For me, it was also a realisation of just how far I’ve come. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day of running a business, but moments like this make you pause and reflect on your journey.

If you’re thinking about sharing your story or writing a book, my advice is simple: do it. Yes, it’s hard, and there will be times when you’ll want to give up. But trust me, it’s worth it. You have a story that can change someone’s life, and there’s power in sharing it.

Thank you to everyone who’s supported me along the way, and to all the incredible women in Powerhouse. This journey has only just begun, and I can’t wait to see where it leads.

And to shout it one more time from the rooftops ‘I’M AN AMAZON NUMBER ONE BEST SELLING AUTHOR!!’ … wow!
